Daniel C. Steinemann et al. Laparoscopic transgastric circumferential stapler-assisted
vs. endoscopic esophageal mucosectomy in a porcine model
Steinemann et al. describe a new surgical technique for circumferential mucosectomy
in the esophagus. They used a porcine model to test a stapler-assisted mucosectomy
technique that involves a laparoscopic transgastric abdominal approach through the
stomach. After the esophageal mucosa has been lifted using saline, the mucosa is resected
using a surgical stapler, achieving an en bloc and circumferential specimen.
