Eui Joo Kim et al. Safety and efficacy of glycopyrrolate as a premedication for endoscopic
submucosal dissection: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study
In this randomized trial, it was found that glycopyrrolate before upper gastrointestinal
endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) enhanced the ease of the procedure and significantly
reduced secretion-related hypoxemia. This is one of the few studies demonstrating
the efficacy of premedication in improving clinical outcomes for upper gastrointestinal
ESD under deep sedation.
