Atopic Dermatitis Treated with Homoeopathy
A 19-year-old woman presented with complaints of itching eruptions on front of both elbows, toes, and right ankle for the last one year. Her complaints generally aggravated at night and were relieved by cold application. She experienced an intense burning sensation after scratching and a little, watery discharge exuded from the affected area. In addition, her elder sister also experienced the same issue during her childhood and was treated by homoeopathy. On the basis of the history of the patient, symptomatology, and Hanifin and Rajka criteria, the case was diagnosed as atopic dermatitis.[1] Homoeopathic treatment showed marked improvement within a short span of time, and she developed a normal skin texture without any adverse effects. [Figs. 1] and [2] show the patient's progress and highlight how effectively homoeopathy can treat this kind of skin disease.
Remedy selected was Sulphur 30C once daily in the early morning on an empty stomach for 2 days, followed by placebo for 1 month. The eruption completely disappeared after 1 month and the skin returned to normal.
