Case series: treatment of different mirizzi syndrome types / residual cystic duct lithiasis following cholecystectomy with single operator cholangioscopy and lithotripsy
Abstract Text Mirizzi syndrome (MS) is an uncommon manifestation of gallstone disease. Pre-operative diagnosis and treatment (traditionally considered surgical) is challenging. We present a case-series of endoscopic treatment of this condition with single operator cholangioscopy and electrohydraulic lithotripsy. Case 1: 53y patient – past cholecystectomy – type 2 Mirizzi. Case 2: 27y patient – past cholecystectomy – type 4 Mirizzi. Case 3: 69y patient – - past cholecystectomy – type 4 Mirizzi. Endoscopic management of different Mirizzi types, even in the post-cholecystectomy setting, seems to be feasible, effective and safe with the use of lithotripsy. These patients may benefit as the surgical treatment of this condition is complex and associated with high risk of complications. [1] [2] [3] [4]
