ABSTRACT

Anesthesiology has evolved into the specialty of perioperative medicine because the anesthesiologist is involved in preoperative assessment, intraoperative management, postoperative care, and early pain management of the patient. New surgical therapeutic options bring forth challenges for the anesthesiologist to deal with before, during, and immediately after colorectal surgery.
