Abstract

Zwangsstörungen unterscheiden sich von notwendigen alltäglichen Ritualen und Gewohnheiten vor allem dadurch, dass sie beim Betroffenen eine zum Teil massive Einschränkung des Lebensvollzugs bedeuten. In dem Beitrag erfolgt zunächst eine Darstellung zentraler Merkmale von Zwangsstörungen, sowie von Aspekten der Klassifikation, der Nosologie und Epidemiologie. Im Zentrum der Überlegungen stehen neuere Modelle zur Erklärung der Problematik, insbesondere behaviorale und kognitive Theorien. Diese werden durch Hinweise auf Vernetzungen mit neuen Befunden aus psychobiologischen Modellvorstellungen ergänzt. Abschließend werden einige Überlegungen zu offenen Fragen, insbesondere zur Thematik der Versorgung von Zwangspatienten angestellt.
