Abstract

A posterior dislocation of the elbow with associated fractures of the radial head and the coronoid process of the ulna is known as “the terrible triad of the elbow” [8]. One patient presented with a quartet consisting of an anterior dislocation of the elbow in combination with a fracture of the radial neck, olecranon and the lateral epicondyle. The mechanisms of injury, treatment and prognosis of complex injuries of the elbow in children are discussed. An algorithm for the treatment of elbow injuries in children is presented.
