Wie im letzten Jahr [1] sollen auch in diesem Beitrag die wichtigsten Kongressabstracts der drei großen Kongresse 2006 - DDW, DGVS und UEGW - referiert werden, notwendigerweise in einer subjektiven Auswahl und in Bezug zu sonstig erschienener Literatur. Da einige Gruppen Studien wiederholt, meist mit upgedateten Resultaten, auf mehr als einem Kongress vorstellen, wurde für den vorliegenden Bericht i. d. R. das letzte Abstract (DGVS oder UEGW) ausgewählt, weswegen im vorliegenden Bericht die Mehrzahl der Abstracts von DGVS und UEGW stammen.
