Beerenextrakte in Nahrungsergänzungsmitteln
Heikle Deklaration und Analytik der Anthocyane und Proanthocyanidine[*]Publication History
Publication Date:
24 July 2008 (online)

Summary
Berry extracts in food supplements: tricky analysis of anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins for a proper declaration
Food supplements containing extracts from berries are marketed with different health claims underlining the effects of the anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins. Comparison of the products is almost impossible due to incomplete declarations and problems in the analyses of polyphenols. This overview compiles possibilities for a more uniform determination of these compounds in selected berries, which could provide better transparency to physicians, pharmacists and consumers.
