Abstract

The ability of thyrocalcitonin to promote bone formation has been tested in thyroparathyroidectomized mice and rats by measuring the incorporation of 3H-proline into calvarial bone matrix. It is concluded that porcine thyrocalcitonin has little or no direct effect on bone formation in these species.
