Lernziele

Der Artikel gibt den Lesern einen klinisch orientierten Überblick über den möglichen Einsatz der Elektrokonvulsionstherapie (EKT) bei schwierig zu behandelnden und pharmakotherapieresistenten depressiven Störungen. Es wird umfassend über Indikationsstellung, Wirksamkeit und Verträglichkeit inkl. der möglichen unerwünschten Wirkungen sowie über neue wissenschaftliche Entwicklungen informiert. Aufgrund der heute immer noch vorhandenen Stigmatisierung des Verfahrens wird zudem kurz über die Integration der EKT in die moderne Medizin und über die Anwendung des Therapieverfahrens in Therapiealgorithmen zur effektiven Behandlung depressiver Störungen informiert.
