Korneale allogene intrastromale Ringsegmente (CAIRS): The New Kid on the Block

Zusammenfassung
Kürzlich wurden korneale allogene intrastromale Ringsegmente (CAIRS) als neue Therapiemöglichkeit bei Keratokonus und anderen ektatischen Hornhauterkrankungen eingeführt. Ähnlich wie bei synthetischen intrakornealen Segmenten werden CAIRS in einen mit einem Femtosekundenlaser geschaffenen intrastromalen Kanal transplantiert, um die Hornhautgeometrie zu regulieren, Myopie und Astigmatismus sowie Aberrationen höherer Ordnung zu reduzieren und letztlich die visuellen und topografischen Parameter zu verbessern. Eine wachsende Zahl klinischer Arbeiten belegt die Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit. CAIRS hat daher zu einem Paradigmenwechsel in der Keratokonus-Behandlung geführt. Dieser Artikel gibt einen Überblick über CAIRS, die Indikationsstellung und die Möglichkeiten zur Vorbereitung und Anpassung des Transplantats.
