Significance

The titanium(IV)/tridentate BINOL complex is developed for the ring-opening reaction of a meso-aziridine with anilines. Good yields and enantioselectivities are obtained for this previously difficult reaction. The catalyst structure and dedicated non-linear effects are also discussed.
