Significance

The novel atropos enantiopure 1,3-butadiene-bridged diphosphine ligand is prepared in a very short and efficient way. The performance of this ligand is better than BINAP and other phosphine ligands for a couple of rhodium-catalyzed hydrogenation reactions of dehydroamino acid derivatives.
