Hintergrund

Visusschwankungen im Rahmen einer transitorischen Refraktionsänderung sind bei Stoffwechselerkrankungen wie z. B. bei Diabetes mellitus bekannt [1]. Dabei kommt es durch Akkumulation von Sorbitol im Linsenepithel zu einer osmotisch bedingten Schwellung der Linse mit konsekutiver, transitorischer Refraktionsänderung [9]. Die Entwicklung einer irreversiblen metabolischen Katarakt als Komplikation eines Diabetes mellitus Typ I ist jedoch ungewöhnlich [10].
