Significance

The authors reported the effec-tive 1:2 cross-trimerization of alkynes using a Ni(cod)2/n-Pr3P catalyst. The cross-trimerization products between triisopropylsilylacetylene (TIPSA) and symmetrical and asymmetrical internal alkynes were obtained with high regio- and stereoselectivity. They propose the possible pathway for the trimerization which is similar to that for the nickel-catalyzed dimerization of alkynes.
