Significance

The MCM-41-supported bidentate phosphine palladium(II) complex [MCM-41-2P-Pd(II)] catalyzed carbonylative Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of aryl iodides 1 with arylboronic acid 3 under carbon monoxide (1 atm) to give the corresponding ketones 4 in 67-90% yield (25 examples). The catalyst was readily removed from the reaction mixture by simple filtration and was reused ten times without significant loss of activity (the formation of 4b, 1st use: 90% yield, 10th use: 88% yield, 1st to 10th average: 89% yield).
