Reported is the synthesis of oxa­zolo[5,4-b]pyridines and oxazolo[4,5-b]pyridines by copper-catalyzed intramolecular C-O coupling reactions. The substrate scope was reasonably well examined and appears to be general for R¹, R² = Ar substituents. However, low yields of products were obtained when R¹, R² = Et or 2-pyridyl substitution was attempted.
