Significance

Overexpression of peroxynitrite in vivo is linked to many human diseases. Selective and sensitive in vivo detection of peroxynitrite is therefore highly desirable. This article reports the use of BODIPY-based fluorophore 3 to selectively detect peroxynitrite in vivo compared to other reactive oxygen and nitrogen species.
