Significance

Polycyclization reactions have a rich history of providing complex polycyclic scaffolds from linear precursors (see Review below). While in the past an emphasis has been placed on studying the diastereoselectivity, recent work has focused on asymmetric polycyclizations. The authors present a highly enantioselective gold(I)-catalyzed polycyclization initiated by an initial 6-exo-dig of enyne substrates.
