Significance
The authors report here a carbonylative Heck reaction for the synthesis of substituted chalcones starting from aryl or alkenyl triflates. The reaction proceeds under palladium catalysis with 10 bar of carbon monoxide. Also, the possibility of a one-pot carbonylative coupling starting from phenol is demonstrated.
