Significance

Having previously developed a chiral copper(I)/TF-BiphamPhos complex, the ­authors apply this catalyst to the Mannich reaction of N-tosylimines with a glycine-derived Schiff base. The chiral α,β-diamino acids synthesized are key biological compounds and synthetic building blocks in organic synthesis.
