Significance

A combination of copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition and palladium-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization gives a highly modular approach to fused 1,2,3-triazoles. Functionalized pyrroles, furans, thiophenes, and even benzene derivatives are viable in this route, affording the fused polycycles in high yields.
