Significance
Silica gel supported potassium hydrogen sulfate (KHSO4-SiO2) was applied to the hydroalkoxylation of styrenes with alcohols. Thus, the reaction of styrenes with alcohols was carried out with KHSO4-SiO2 to give the corresponding benzylic ethers 1a-k along with dimerization byproducts 2-4.
