Significance

In this work, a diastereoselective synthesis of trans-2-substituted cyclopropanols is described. The readily available dizinc reagent CH2(ZnI)2 reacts with various α-chloro aldehydes to give the corresponding trans-cyclopropanols in good to excellent yields and diastereomeric ratios.
