The superficial circumflex iliac perforator flap, which can overcome the shortcomings of the groin flap,[1] was first reported in 2004 by Koshima et al. This flap has been applied to various types of reconstructions, including head and neck, limb, and penile defects.[2] [3] [4] [5] Recently, we have developed various types of superficial circumflex iliac perforator (SCIP) flap by incorporating surrounding tissues such as external oblique fascia, iliac bone, intercostal nerves/perforators, and groin lymph nodes.[6] [7] [8] [9] Herein, we present those flap elevation methods and their clinical applications.
