Unilateral Loss of Vision after Spinal Surgery in a Patient with Flammer Syndrome

Background

Surgical interventions can present major challenges for the blood supply to organs, such as the eye, due to long operation time, prone position, external pressure on the eye, significant blood loss, excessive hydration, hemodilution and anesthesia [1], [2]. Spine surgeries are the subset of nonocular surgeries with a relatively high frequency of perioperative visual loss [1].
