Significance

Nonracemic homoallylic alcohols are important intermediates for the preparation of different classes of useful compounds. This practical method offers the use of readily accessible and recoverable chiral auxiliary, and leads to excellent selectivity. Allylmagnesium bromide or metalated cis- or trans-butene serve as starting materials for the preparation of the reagents without the need of tin or silicon allylic compounds.
