Significance

Pseudolaric acid A is an active component of tujinpi which is a herb used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of dermatological fungal infections. The key step in the synthesis of the perhydroazulene skeleton is an intramolecular carbene-cyclization-cycloaddition cascade (CCCC) reaction.
