Significance

(±)-ξ-Clausenamide and (-)-balasubramide are alkaloids isolated from Clausena sp. trees, the leaves and fruit of which are used in folk medicine. In nature these products are most likely formed from (+)-SB204900 by the intramolecular 8-endo-aryl-epoxide cyclization.
