Significance

The easily accessible methylpentanediolborane (MPBH) is a suitable reagent for the hydroboration of monosubstituted alkynes furnishing air- and chromatography-stable alkenylboronic acids. In the case of the hydroboration of propargyl bromide, MPBH proved to be more adequate than the structurally similar pinacolborane (PinBH).
