Significance

This FeCl₃-catalyzed alkenylation of electron-rich arenes with aryl-substituted alkenes is suggested to follow a Friedel-Crafts-type reaction path. The reaction proceeds regioselectively and in the case of propargyl esters also with high stereoselectivity.
