Significance

The heterogenized catalysts 4a and 4b were prepared from alcohol 1a and phenol 1b in three steps, respectively. The 1,6-diene 5 was smoothly and quantitatively transformed into the cyclized product 6 by using 5 mol% Ru of 4a or 4b in CH2Cl2 at ambient temperature. The supported catalysts 4a and 4b exhibited good recyclabilities in this reaction. The heterogeneous RCM of various dienes (12 examples) was examined with 4a or 4b.
