Significance

The first magnetic-nanoparticle-supported DMAP was developed as a heterogeneous organocatalyst. The supported DMAP 2 was prepared by a concise route starting from magnetite (Fe₃O₄). Catalyst 2 was applied to acylation of alcohol 3 and glucose 7 with acetic anhydride, bishydroalkoxylation of alkyne 5, and Boc protection of indole 9 to give the corresponding products in high yield.
