Significance

By exploiting the differential reactivity of trichlorotriazine the authors assemble a series of dendrimers containing Fréchet (F) and Newkome (N) dendrons as well as ferrocene as a redox-active group. Examination of the relative effect each dendron had on the electrochemical behavior of the dendrimer determined that changes in the Newkome dendron size had a larger effect on the ferrocene center.
