C-S Bond Formation by Iron-Catalyzed Michael Addition of Thiols

The authors describe a carbon-sulfur bond-forming Michael addition. Chiral sulfur-containing compounds are useful for both organic and medicinal chemistry and access to these products remains an important task. The use of an iron-centered catalyst makes this a useful protocol due to the environmentally friendly nature of iron. Good to high enantioselectivities are obtained in this reaction.
