Significance
Although there are several protocols developed for asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions, this is one of the first examples of a Ni-catalyzed variant. Using low catalyst loadings under mild conditions, the products are obtained in good to excellent yields and high enantioselectivities. The chiral ligand used is easily prepared from commercially available precursors.
