Abstract

Our group of patients comprises 69 children treated between 1961 and 1966. They received shunts because of hydrocephalus internus of different origin, and all were reviewed up to the end of 1979 at the Hydrocephalus Centre of the University Hospital in Düsseldorf. The type of shunt, the frequency of revision of the shunts, and the resulting complications, as well as methods of diagnosis and mental development of the individuals are described and discussed in this article.
