Significance

Aerobic oxidation of various primary amines 1 took place in the presence of a 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH; 3) and tungstated alumina (WO3/Al2O3) under O2/N2 (7:93 v/v, 5 MPa) to give the corresponding oximes 2 with up to 90% yield. The oxidation of cyclohexylamine also proceeded efficiently under atmospheric pressure of molecular oxygen (16 h, 1 atm, balloon), whereas the reaction did not occur in the absence of molecular oxygen.
