Abstract
Syndromes of exhaustion and Fatigue, especially when they last for longer periods, affect the patient in all his being and lead to considerable suffering. From the perspective of āyurvedic medicine these syndromes are mainly characterized by an aggravation of Vāta. The individual presentation and various specific symptoms of exhaustion are caused by the combination of Vāta-aggravation and individual predisposition. A multimodal āyurvedic therapy comprising recommendations regarding diet and lifestyle, herbal medicines and, if needed, an intensive course of Pañcakarma-therapy proves to be very effective in practice.
