Introduction

The implantation of phakic intraocular lenses (pIOLs), such as the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL), has revolutionized todayʼs refractive surgery and offers many advantages over traditional keratorefractive laser techniques, especially for the correction of high myopia beyond laser range [1]. However, appropriate preoperative selection of candidates is crucial to ensure reliable postoperative visual and refractive outcomes and to avoid complications. The preoperative criteria for ICL implantation are as follows: stable refraction (less than ± 0.5 dpt change in 1 year), minimum endothelial cell count (minimum 2500 cellules/mm²), clear crystalline lens, appropriate pupil size and anterior chamber depth (ACD) (≥ 2.8 mm), and a non-pathological iris [2]. Moreover, the preoperative measurements for selection of an appropriate pIOL diameter are essential to prevent postoperative complications due to ICL over- or undersizing [3].
