Anstieg an Fällen periorbitaler nekrotisierender Fasziitis

Die nekrotisierende Fasziitis (NF) ist eine der wenigen akut lebensbedrohlichen Erkrankungen in der Augenheilkunde. Mit einer Inzidenz von 0,24/1 Mio./Jahr [1] wurde sie bislang als äußerst seltene Infektionserkrankung der periorbitalen Region eingestuft. Beunruhigend ist daher das aktuell beobachtete erhöhte Aufkommen an Fällen periorbitaler nekrotisierender Fasziitis (PNF).
