Significance

The proliferation of tin as a radical chain mediator is well known and has been used extensively. However, due to its toxicity and the difficultly to remove it during purification processes, several alternatives have been found including silanes, thiols, phosphorus acids, indium hydrides, and cyclohexadienes. This report demonstrates the conjugate addition of alkyl radicals carried by silanes.
