Significance

Complementary to titanocene (N. E. Lee, S. L. Buchwald J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1994, 116, 5985) and rhodium protocols (V. I. Tararov et al. Tetrahedron Lett. 2000, 41, 2351), the present report demonstrates the asymmetric hydrogenation of unfunctionalized enamines using iridium catalysts. These catalysts are composed of chiral oxazoline or pyridine-based N,P-ligands.
