Significance
The authors report the coupling of alkoxides and alkynes to yield E-alkenes with good selectivity. While the use of stoichiometric TiX4 species is a limitation, the reaction is general giving products of high synthetic utility. This report builds on the authors’ pioneering work on similar coupling reactions (Org. Lett. 2005, 7, 2865).
