Significance

Aluminum-incorporated MCM-41 (Al-MCM-41) catalyzed the Mukaiyama aldol reaction of aldehydes 1 with silyl enol ethers 2 to give the corresponding aldol adducts 3 in 67-99% yield (17 examples). The catalyst was recovered by filtration and reused three times without significant loss of activity for formation of 3a (1st reuse: 0.25 h, 99%, 2nd reuse: 0.25 h, 86%, 3rd reuse: 1 h, 85%).
