Significance

Microwave-assisted copper-free Sonogashira coupling was performed with the Ph3P-containing Pd-EnCatTM TPP30. The copper-free Sonogashira coupling of 4-bromoaceto-phenone (1) with phenylacetylene (2) was carried out in the presence of Pd-EnCatTM TPP30 (3) with the aid of microwave irradiation to give 1-[4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]ethanone (4) in 98% yield. The catalyst was recovered and reused five times without any loss of catalytic activity.
