Significance

Hydrotalcite-supported gold nanoparticles (Au/HT) promoted the aerobic oxidation of alcohols under air to give the corresponding carbonyl compounds in up to 99% yield (29 examples). The catalyst was readily recovered by simple filtration and reused three times without significant loss of the catalytic activity (for the formation of acetophenone, 1st reuse: 99% yield, 2nd reuse: 98% yield, 3rd reuse: 98% yield).
