Significance

Highly enantioenriched tertiary organoboronic esters are obtained from copper-catalyzed conjugate boration reactions. The catalyst system consists of CuPF6(MeCN)4, the chiral QuinoxP* ligand and lithium tert-butoxide. The authors rationalized that a catalytic amount of LiPF6 was generated in the reaction that accelerates the catalytic cycle, therefore lithium salt is essential to this reaction.
