Significance

The authors developed a solid-supported hydroxyproline 1 which catalyzes the Mannich reaction of aldehydes and ketones with N-PMP-ethyl glyoxylate imine efficiently in high yields, diastereoselectivities, and enantioselectivities. For aldehydes the reaction was implemented in a flow system allowing continuous synthesis with a residence time of minutes and a fourfold reduction of catalyst with respect to the batch process.
